Mosaic Makes The People Come Together
This is no April fool’s….Mosaikashop News Blog is back!

Since the end of the installation of the wall of roses restarting my blog has been on my mind. I enjoy writing and sharing my activities through my commented photos using wordpress since 2010. It’s thanks to my friend Maher Dawoud who encouraged me to start it again, he told me with nostalgia how much he used to enjoy reading my blog. So here I am writing to you commenting my infamous photos with news from my mosaic activities and beyond. I have decided, however, to write it in English for now.
Exhibitions
Carrara, Italy

It is with great honour and pride that I announce to you the celebration of my husband’s 45 years of mosaics. I am proud to live my life with a great maestro of mosaics and observe all the energy it takes to set up a very professional exhibition.
Florence, Italy

On March 21 I was happy to reunite with my friend Maher Dawoud in Florence for his participation along with his collaborator Sara Eltonsi. It was a collective exhibition curated by Rosanna Fattorini.

Based in Egypt and Germany, Maher and Sara’s work was an installation where they blend photography with mosaics. Their research-based concept explores the idea of art returning to its origin. The photographic series—Italian sculptural forms captured on German lands—finds its way back to Italy, where its story began. The mosaics are made of marble, a material deeply rooted in Italian artistic tradition, yet intentionally not affixed to the photographs—symbolizing movement, transformation, and the spiritual return of form to its birthplace. Through this interplay, they reflect on the timeless dialogue between mediums and cultures.

I was also delighted to hear shout out my name ‘Suzanne!’ As also present and part of the exhibition were some of our contributors to the wall of roses! I was so happy to meet them for the first time. Attending the exhibition who’s roses marked me was Caroline Jung, Maria de Cataldo and here I am with Nira Ben David Peled beside her unique style mosaic.

Nira’s series of roses she did for the mural are amongst the most poplar and get a lot of attention for their curious style and technique used.
As you all know the wall of roses was finally inaugurated on November 30, 2024. It was an emotional day for so many of us and me the most! I had highly documented the mural since 2021 and even more during the installation. A Facebook and Instagram page were made dedicated to it you can look back at it all at Roses for Carrara Project.
Manzano, Italy

A collective exhibition was organized by Giulio Menossi which took place in Udine. I was not able to attend but here is my participating mosaic:
#37 Never Stop 2 or In Memoriam, 2019.

France

In 2021 an open call was launched ‘Mosaic for Afghan Women’ to remind the world of the women’s condition in Afghanistan. With a lot of enthusiasm I contributed a corner mosaic rectangle for the project.

These panels are regularly invited on tour across France. Here is the latest exhibition organized by Marie-Odile Laurent. Again I was not able to attend but the event was very interesting as they combined mosaics exhibited along traditional afghan dress.
The event was documented in this lovely video made by Michelle Munnier.

I was quite honoured to be commissioned to do a mosaic which was gifted to the now former Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau. The mosaic represents his the region of Papineau where he started his political career. Here he is receiving the mosaic.
Mosaic Workshops in Carrara, Italy

On occasion I launch short workshops in Carrara. I am currently doing them in Enzo’s gallery here in the heart of historical center of Carrara until I get a proper space to be able to welcome more people and organise small mosaic exhibitions.
The Picassiette Workshops. Is a great way of introducing the spirit of mosaics.

My 3-day Picassiette Workshops is a contemporary introduction of the spirit of mosaics.
