Mosaikashop fera partie de La Semaine Italienne du 12 au 14 août sur St. Laurent entre Jean-Talon et Mozart: www.semaineitalienne.com. Au programme, des mini-ateliers de mosaïque pour tous à partir de 5ans et c’est gratuit! Au choix : Mosaïque Picassiette ou Fleur Byzantine. (Mosaikashop will take part of the Italian week August 12-14 on St. Laurent between Jean-Talon and Mozart and will be offering free mosaic workshops. All are welcome as of the age of 5+. RAJASTHANI TAPESTRY MOSAICS
Welcome to the first ever Rajasthani Mosaic Tapestry Workshop to be taught in Montreal!
So, what is Rajasthani Tapestry Mosaics anyway? A brief description is as follows: For years I have been collecting gorgeous wall hangings that are assembled in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Jaipur, India. These hangings are richly embroidered and embellished with silks, jewels, sequins, seeds, beads, pearls, rhinestones, shells, etc. Each piece of fabric is overlaid onto another piece of fabric, and woven together like a crazy quilt.
The fabrics that are used for these wall hangings come from remnants that have been collected after ceremonies (such as religious celebrations or weddings). Gatherers scour deserts and villages for these treasures, often antique and one of a kind. They are then taken back and assembled into these lush patchwork tapestries.

The vernissage will take place September 1. The exhibition will run until September 14)

Atelier Hommage à Hundertwasser
Atelier d’un jour dédié à la coupe des smalti en petit morceau- ‘micro’ et l’installation de l’œuvre sans coulis. (One day workshop totally dedicated to cutting smalti in small pieces- ‘micro’ and doing an installation without grout.)
L’atelier sera sur la technique de coupe des smaltis en petit – petits morceaux, (ces merveilles dans la tradition byzantines venant du Mexique) et sur la bonne utilisation de la pince à molette, cet outil pas toujours facile à maitriser! Le projet est de 5X7pouce, l’image sera imposée mais vous auriez un choix. Le sujet sera d’après une œuvre de Hundertwasser, la coqueluche de Mosaikashop! (This workshop is dedicated to the technique of cutting smalti, these marvelous tiles from Mexico in the byzantine tradition. You will learn the exact method of using the wheeled nippers, this tool not always easy to master! The project will measure 5X7inches, the design will be imposed but you will have a choice. The subject will be according to works by Hundertwasser, so much adored at Mosaikashop!)

Atelier de group!
Mosaikashop a accueilli un grand groupe de jeune pour une formation Picassiette. Suite au cours ils vont appliquer leur savoir au Costa Rica. J’ai hâte de voir leur photos à leur retour. (Mosaikashop welcomed a large group of young students for a Picassiette class. Following the course they will use their know-how to make mosaics in Costa Rica. I look forward to seeing the results when they return)
Les coups de cœur Mosaikashop!
Jasmine a rendu hommage à Klimt, un petit bijoux remplis d’or, smalti, céramique. Elle a travaillé avec beaucoup de soin et minutie. (Jasmine did a tribute mosaic according to Klimt, a jewel-like mosaic filled with gold, smalti and ceramics. She worked with a lot of care and precision)
Lucie C a fait un soleil pour embellir son jardin.

Françoise qui avait suivi le cours de mosaique romaine nous a rapporté son chef-d’œuvre. J’adore la ‘simplicité’ de certaines mosaiques anciennes. (Françoise who had taken the roman mosaic class brought us her finished work. I love the ‘simplicity’ of ancient mosaics.)
Astrid a fait comme deuxième projet ce charmant raton qu’elle a offert en cadeau à sa nièce. Un super travail avec les tuiles texturées! (Astrid as a second project did this charming raccoon which she offered as a gift for her niece. She did a wonderful job using the textured tiles.)
